Outline

Recently, a large number of electromagnetic phenomena preceding crustal activities (seismic and volcanic activity) have been reported. These reports are concerned with changes of geoelectric potential differences, geomagnetic fields, abnormal propagation of radio wave from VLF station, and so on. Figure 1 shows the schematic view of seismo-electromagnetics study. .In this laboratory, we struggle with developing the real time crustal activity monitoring system with use of electromagnetic approach. That is, "lithosphere weather information". In order to realize our dream, physics of electromagnetic phenomena associated with crustal activity should be clear. The physics is also our research target. Simultaneously, the development of signal processing is highly required to remove artificial noises and discriminate signals such as DC train and factories with use of neural network, wavelet analysis, remote reference methods, direction finding, and so on. Furthermore, we try to estimate underground structure of electric property.
