Development of Human Resource and System on Early Warning and Monitoring for Natural Disaster in South-East Asia

In order to mitigate natural disasters caused by such as earthquakes, volcanic activities, landslides, and keep secure environment, the followings are important:
  1. Development of technologies or sensor system for monitoring and detection of the related phenomena
  2. Development of methodologies to predict the precursor phenomena
  3. Study for risk management in social system
  4. Human resource development of leaders who have skill in both science-technology and risk management.
The aim of this program is to establish an Asian network to study mitigation of natural disasters and share ideas and data to reduce the natural disaster risk.
This exchange program is supported by Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) Programme promoted by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). Graduate School of Science, Chiba University will host the exchange program.
Project outline and expected achievement
  1. Establish a network of young researchers who are interesting in early warning and monitoring system for natural disasters in South-East Asia.
  2. Provide platform to exchange and share ideas and skills on early warning and monitoring system for natural disasters
  3. Provide a program on human resource development (for leader) in the point of views from science-technology and risk management.
  4. Young scientists from Indonesia, Malaysia, and India will be participated.
